Because it is so popular and attracts applicants from across North America, it's important that you understand what you need to do to be accepted into this exciting adventure program.

Below are the key steps you need to take to fully meet the admission requirements. Follow all the steps and we'll see you at the next Program Readiness Camp where you will participate in some fun and exciting activities at Wilderness Tours Resort.

Step 1

Meet College Eligibility requirements (Grade 12 diploma or Mature Applicant (19 years and over without a high school diploma. Must complete academic testing.)
Meet Program Eligibility requirements (Grade 12 English and Math or equivalent.
Submit Resume, Letter of Intent Submission Form and Letters of References (See Guidelines for Letter of Intent and Reference Letter).

Step 2

Submit Confidential Personal Information, Health & Consent form , supplied by Algonquin College
Participation in Program Readiness Camp (See 2011 agenda details and 2011 Parents' Program)

Step 3

Before registering in the program, accepted applicants must:

Provide proof of current basic/standard First Aid and CPR certification
Sign and submit an Outdoor Adventure Program Assumption of Risk and Indemnifying Release form for minors, and a Parental Consent for Minors (under 18 years). If you are 18 years old or older, you must sign and submit the Release Form for Non-Minors.

Applicants who have met Step I of the above (College Eligibility and Program Eligibility requirements) and submit the required Resume, Letters of Intent, and References, will be assessed and ranked.

Based on that evaluation, some applicants will be invited to a Program Readiness Camp (May 15/16 , OR May 22/23, 2011). Participation is mandatory for those who wish to be considered.

At least two weeks prior to your attendance at the camp, a Confidential Personal Information, Health & Consent form must be submitted to Algonquin College.

After the Program Readiness Camp assessment, participants will be ranked for selection into the program. Should the number of qualified applicants exceed the number of places in the program, candidates will be selected on the basis of the Letter of Intent, Letters of Reference, and physical and interpersonal skills and abilities.

Upon final acceptance into the program, students must provide proof of current basic/standard First Aid and CPR certification and a signed release form, prior to being allowed to register.
