Algonquin College - Nicaragua 2010 |

This March, second and third year Child and Youth Worker students will embark on an incredible journey; whether it be in the classrooms and halls of Algonquin College, or on ground in rural Nicaragua, these students, along with their professors, are setting out to make a difference.
The focus of Nicaragua, March 2010 will be on building two new classrooms to an existing school in an isolated fishing community called Haulover. Child and Youth Worker students will be working hard to fundraise dollars to build this school. Any additional funds raised will be dedicated to a small service project in the city dump where over 2000 people make their home. Collections will also be made throughout our community for in-kind donations such as basic school supplies to aid in the children’s education.
This project is in partnership with Compañeros Inc., an organization that facilitates safe, adventurous, and challenging volunteer service and cross-cultural learning experiences in Nicaragua.
Follow the journey of these Child and Youth worker students along with their faculty as they embark on this challenging, educational, adventurous, and thought-provoking journey.
