Credit for Military Training
Algonquin College recognizes military occupational training and has provided credit recognition for the following military occupational training.
Canadian Forces Resource Management Support Clerk (RMS CLK)
Canadian Forces Military Police
Please note: Graduation from Algonquin College’s academic programs is dependent upon successful completion of all course requirements of the Program of Study, fulfillment of the twenty-five percent (25%) residency requirement, and good standing in the College. The residency requirement is the percentage of courses within a program of study which must be completed in Algonquin College under the instruction of the College faculty. The current residency requirement is 25% of hours of instruction as established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities.

To receive credit, applicants must submit:
- A completed Algonquin Application for Transfer of Academic Credit
- A current MPRR – Military Personnel Record Resumé
- $10 Administration Fee - per course

Prior Learning and Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
Get the credit you deserve for your life and work experience. Algonquin College has a process in place called Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition that can help you gain course credits for the valuable knowledge and skills learned in your professional and personal life. Learning is assessed on a course-by-course basis and may involve writing a challenge exam, demonstrating a skill, and/or submitting a portfolio of work samples.
To get started:
- Identify which program of study interests you
- Pick out the courses that you believe you could challenge
- Request copies of detailed course outlines
- Discuss options with PLAR staff who will guide you through the process
