What will I learn?
This program seeks to teach the student advanced-level Adobe Flash skills focusing on Action Scripting, Animation, Game Development, and Programming.
What will I do?
Students will work toward advancing their general understanding of multimedia as it relates to rich-media applications as well as exploring new areas and gaining experience in such as aspects as animation, design, video, audio and programming. Students will apply their newly learned skills on solo projects as well as team-based applications for a wide variety of users and audiences include projects dealing with regional, national and international clients.
Where can I work after graduating?
In addition to opportunities listed for the Interactive Multimedia developer program, graduates of the post-diploma program would be eligible for intermediate and senior positions in Multimedia where extensive knowledge of Adobe Flash is required.
Do I need to have drawing or fine art skills?
No artistic ability is required for entrance or student success within these programs. If an applicant is primarily interested in exploring his or her potential as an artist, they would be better off applying for one of our more specific design oriented programs such as Graphic Design or Interior Design. However, this does not prevent or hinder artists who do qualify for either program as they usually end up excelling in the graphics, animation and interface design aspects of various multimedia applications.
What type of computer will I be learning on?
Although some multimedia and web applications are developed on the Mac, most advanced programming, animation, video, or game creation, etc. continues to be a PC-based activity. Our program reflects this. (If a student only has Mac skills they will be able to 'transfer' their skills to the PC with relative ease).
Can I take either program part-time?
The demands of this program are such that they cannot be met on a part-time basis. Similar courses and programs are available through our continuing education department.
I've taken something similar but didn't graduate. Would I be exempt from one or two of my credits?
The college offers a prior learning assessment for all those who feel they already meet the requirements for some courses.
