Do you have an interest and aptitude in interactive design, art and graphic design?
Multimedia is the combination of text, graphics, sound and animation. It is a puzzle of many different disciplines including communications, advertising, programming, graphic design, animation, imaging. This two-year Interactive Multimedia Developer program is a direct-response to applicant and employer demand. Where graphic design teaches the physical surface or 'face' of a project, multimedia encompasses the heart and soul of design, in an electronic forum.
"Interactive Multimedia is a fun subject for the students," says Tanya Hawley, multimedia professor. "Since we don't do tests, exams or essays in the program, the students get to concentrate on designing, working with type and color co-ordination, creating layouts."
"Our ideal student is one who is happy to be on the computer designing and creating things," says Hawley. "Someone who likes to try new software and enjoys type, logos, color, images and has fun with electronic gadgets. Traditional art or drawing skills are NOT necessary for this program. It would be a bonus if students could draw. Students will not be penalized or less successful if they are not artists."
Ultimately, this program seeks to educate people in electronic communication and packaging of emerging technologies. If students have a background, diploma or degree or education in design, animation, or programming, they should apply to the Interactive Multimedia Post-Diploma program as an alternative.
