Coordinator Ron Cormack at 1-613-727-4723 ext. # 5296

Ron has a diploma in Media Communications from Canadore College in North Bay. He has been involved in educational television since the mid 70’s at both Carleton University and Algonquin College. While employed at the College, Ron has supervised or technically produced well over a hundred remotes that have been broadcast on CBC, CTV, Global, Rogers and/or Mid Canada Television.

His work in the private sector of the teleproduction industry ranges from that of being a gaffer to production management. He sits on the Board of Directors of several teleproduction companies in Ottawa and maintains his freelance status in the Outside Broadcast sector with Dome Productions working primarily for Fox, ESPN and Comcast sports.

He has been involved with international media training in association with the Canadian International Development Agency in Bangkok Thailand and Bosnia Herzegovina and has worked internationally with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation during the Lillehammer Winter Olympics.

Ron also contributed significantly in the development of the Digital Cinema Research Centre at the College and continues to sit on the management committee for the Centre.

Over his 30 year tenure at the College he has passionately enjoyed his role as both Professor and Academic Coordinator of several programs within the School of Media and Design.

Michel Barrette has thrived in Broadcast television for over 27 years. He is currently the coordinator of the Television Program at Algonquin College where he is responsible for curriculum development and delivery. He is also active as a freelance producer and director.

Much of Michel's career was with the CBC from 1974 - 1989 where he was a director and producer for English news programming. His credits here included coverage of every major political campaign, First Ministers conferences, the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics, CBC Sports, the Journal and hundreds of other programs and specials.

For two years Michel was Senior Producer with Reseau des Sports (RDS) where he produced and launched the successful Sports 30 program which airs four times daily and trained editorial staff, announcers, reporters and directors.

After graduating from Algonquin College’s Broadcasting –Television program in the early 1980s Randy has post produced thousands of programs for a myriad of clientele.

Specializing in post-production and desk top media tools he has weathered the transition from analog tape based production and post production methods to now instructing computer based digital media applications.

Randy introduces students to 2d & 3d static & motion graphics as well as audio and video post production techniques on all of Algonquin’s desktop computer platforms.

The program offers instruction on all current software applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Encore, 3ds Studio Max, Digidesign Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro HD and other programs utilized by professionals in the industry.

A graduate of Algonquin College's Television Broadcasting program in Ottawa, Jeremy has become one of Ottawa's busiest and most sought after producers/directors. He was an early adopter of high definition and continues to thrive in today’s challenging and changing television environment. He started as a jr. producer and has worked in just about every area of video production before starting his own successful production company in 2002.

As a professor at Algonquin, he embraces the opportunities that convergence and social media provide to the television industry. He will ensure that Algonquin Television graduates not only have the tools and knowledge to join an industry in transition but to be leaders once they get there.
