The COME program leverages the considerable expertise of Algonquin College, LASI World Skills and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges of Canada’s (ACCC) Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) towards the development of a unique e-mentorship program.

One Stop Support

Participants receive one-stop-shop support, guidance and mentoring to address their individual settlement, learning and employment integration needs.

Mentees select their destinations in Canada and then are matched with mentors, in a like profession, and linked with local settlement agencies to provide an individually tailored learning experience.

The COME program addresses key success factors for internationally educated professionals and skilled workers to assist them in their goal to achieve Canadian employment in their chosen or related field.

Under the guidance of their mentor, this is achieved by:

  • developing business and profession-specific networks
  • building and enhancing occupation-specific workplace communications
  • providing an understanding of Canadian specific workplace practices
  • assisting participants in managing cross cultural expectations

This program is unique in its integration of course work, mentoring relationships, the development of an online community and, most importantly, in its focus on pre-approved immigrants as they prepare to come to Canada.
