Denise Amyot

Denise Amyot

Denise Amyot is the President and CEO of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, whose mandate is to foster scientific and technological literacy throughout the country.  The corporation includes three national museums: the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum. She has previously held such positions as Senior Vice-President of the Leadership and Talent Management Sector of the Canada Public Service Agency (now Treasury Board), and Assistant Deputy Minister of Corporate Management and Public Affairs at Social Development Canada, among others.  She has twenty-five years of experience in the Federal Government and three with the Department of Education of the Northwest Territories.  She worked in policy, program and service delivery in cultural, social, economic and scientific areas.  She spent the first six years of her career as a teacher in Ontario, Quebec, and the Northwest Territories.

Denise’s roles in corporate citizenship include Vice-President of Executive Steering Committees of Heads of Federal Agencies, President of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC), Board of Governor of Ottawa University, and member of the Editorial Board of Canadian Government Executive magazine and on various United Way committees. Denise holds a Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Science (Biology), and a Master in Education.  Denise has received her professional ICD.D designation as a board director from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

She was appointed to the Board in 2010 to serve a three-year term, and will serve as a member of the Governance Committee in 2011-12.
